TED Talk: How Craving Attention Makes You Less Creative

Joseph Gordon-Levitt speaks really honestly about his experience in both getting attention and paying attention.

I loved how he spoke about an experience when he was younger being told by someone he liked that he was a “show-off” and it hurt him and is still something he remembers regardless of his huge success.
He also talks about flow and how the more you can pay attention to one thing, studies have shown that you will be happier.

Favourite Quotes:

  1. An addiction is an addiction: “Instagram gets its users addicted to the powerful feeling of getting attention”.
  2. “If your creativity is driven by your desire to get attention, you’re never going to be creatively fulfilled.”
